After 10 years of managing various levels at the provincial and national level Stephanie Rushton and Jim Cannovan have decided to open the Winstars Female Soccer School.

During my time as provincial and national team manger I have had the privilege of working with many talented players that are involved at the national level and NCAA collegiate soccer.  I have continued to follow their careers both on and off the soccer pitch.

I also have had the privilege of working with university coaches to help the female athlete find the right fit to continue their soccer career.

My business background with domestic and international experience and owner
of fitness clubs will only help our athletes reach their academic and soccer goals

Technical Director - Jim Cannovan

JIM CANNOVAN

 After 15 years as Technical Director of The Ontario Soccer Association, Jim Cannovan has announced his retirement from the Association.

 Jim was appointed in September 1994 responsible for approximately  160,000 registered players with the Association.

 During his 15 year tenure there was exponential growth in soccer which  exceeds  500,000 today.
 
 Cannovan arrived at the Association with an extensive soccer  background from his native Scotland where he was schooled through the  famous Glasgow Celtic system as a teenager , spent some time with  Alloa in Scotland and Barnsley in England before coming to Canada  where he spent many years with Toronto Homer and Toronto Italia of the  National Soccer League.
 
 During his time as Technical Director presiding over such an enormous  participation explosion Cannovan always focused on the importance of  coaching education , something he believes is critical if we are to  see any improvement in player development in our game.
 
 Jimmy has said it has been an absolute honour and privilege  to work  with so many gifted coaches and talented players over the years and to  be involved at the National level and the NCAA with National and  Collegiate players was a great challenge during this time of massive  change in coach and player development in our continent.
 
 I take great pride in the knowledge that I played a large role in the  evolution of our game and I am leaving the position of Technical  Director with the blessing of the Association to enjoy the challenge  of working solely in the female game with the Winstars Female Soccer  School, where I feel I can bring some parity to the educational and  National opportunities for our Winstars girls.
